The Veerashaiva Utkarsha Mandal is an organization that works at the grassroots level within the Lingayat community.
The institution was registered with the Charity Commissioner on 13/12/1968, and in the early days, 50 years ago, it was established by esteemed individuals from the community in Ichalkaranji, such as late Mr. Mrugendra Anna Sultanpure, late Mr. Sadashiv Murdande, late Mr. Shankarao Kitture, late Mr. Dnyanba Dattwade, late Mr. Mahadev Mali, late Mr. Apayya Swami, late Mr. Shivgonda Patil (Pahalwan), late Mr. Shankar Bandawalkar, late Mr. Sh. Ba. Mali (Master), late Mr. Shrikant Sakharpe, late Mr. Rudrapanna Koshte, and Mr. Daryappa Kore, who took the initiative to establish this institution. Among them, Mr. Daryappa Kore is the only one still alive. The main objective was to advance the educational, religious, and social sectors of all people in the Veerashaiva community.

Education

Educational Institutions

The institution acquired approximately 2 acres of land on Kolhapur Road in 1969. There, an educational institution was established. Initially, in 1990, a kindergarten was started in a small area, which gradually developed over time. Today, 150 children are receiving education in the kindergarten at D.M. Biradar Bal Vidya Mandir. The Mrigendra Anna Sultanpure Primary Vidya Mandir offers classes from 1st to 8th both in Marathi and semi-English medium. Similarly, the Gnanbatatya Dattawade High School and Junior College have classes from 9th to 10th in both Marathi and semi-English medium. The 11th and 12th grades are offered in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams, with a total of 750 students receiving education in the entire school.
An academy for the Science stream in 11th and 12th is operational, and there are separate and spacious laboratories available for the latest education in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. There is also a separate modern computer lab available for students taking IT subjects. The Commerce stream for 11th and 12th is conducted through both Marathi and English medium.
